2008 RAINBOW SOCCER TOURNAMENT RULES
A. Laws of the Game:
All games shall be played in accordance with the laws observed by
USYSA/FIFA with the exceptions as noted below.
B. Duration of Games:
All tournament games for ages U9 - U11 are 25-minute halves. For
Ages U12 – U19 halves will be 30 minutes in length.
C. Point System:
6 points for a win
3 point for a tie
0 points for a loss
1 point for each goal scored up to 3 points
1 bonus point for a shut out (no bonus points for 0-0 tie)
D. Tie Breaker for Qualifying Games:
1 - Most games won
2 – Head to head competition
3 - Fewest goals allowed
4 – Most goals scored
5 – Penalty kicks per FIFA
E. Championship Game Overtime:
If a semi-final or championship match ends in a tie, the winner will
Be decided as follows
1 – Two 5 minute overtime periods
2 – Best of 5 penalty kicks
3 – Sudden victory penalty kicks
F. Forfeits:
Seven players are required to start and play a game. A team must be
Present no later than 5 minutes after the scheduled starting time. A
Forfeit will be scored as a win for a total of 3 points.
G. Roster Size / Eligibility:
-U9 - U11: Maximum of 14, including up to 3 guest players.
-U12 – U16: Maximum of 18, including up to 3 guest players.
-U17 - U19: Maximum Roster size 22, only 18 may dress.
-All players must be registered with their state association and
Have a current USYSA player ID. Teams with guest players are
Required to submit proper guest player forms. All teams from outside
Illinois must have a travel permit from their association.
-Roster changes will not be permitted during the tournament.
H. Red Card:
Any player receiving a red card will not be allowed to play in there
Team’s next game. This includes semi and final matches. In order for
the suspension to be considered served, their team must play the
game. A forfeit does not count as a suspension. Two read cards
will disqualify a player for the remainder of the tournament.
I.Substitutions:
1-Substitutions are permitted with the consent of the referee, on throw-ins
of the team that has possession of the ball. Either team may substitute
on goal kicks, one for one on injuries, after a goal has been scored, and
at half time.
J.Protests:
1. Protests must be made in writing by the team’s head coach and submitted
to the Tournament Executive Committee the day of the game.
2-The tournament Executive Committee interpretation of tournament
rules and protests shall be final.
3-All referee decision is final regarding FIFA game rules and regulations.
K. Eyewear:
Eyeglasses and protective eyewear may only be worn with the permission
of the referee.
L. Weather:
If adverse weather conditions exist, it is up to the tournament committee
to decide what action must be taken to finalize the tournament schedule.
M. Home Team / Visiting Team:
Home team is listed first on the schedule and must provide the game ball.
Visitor must provide a secondary ball. Home team will change uniforms
If there is a color conflict in the opinion of the referee.
N. Field Position:
Home team defends the north (or east) goal and kicks off to start the game.
O. Exceptions:
Any circumstance not specifically covered by USYSA, FIFA, or the preceding tournament rules, will be resolved by joint decision of the Tournament Director, Assistant Tournament Director, and the Rock Run Club President.
